The JICS School Board is a governing board of directors who serve as the spiritual leaders of our school. The school board is concerned with policy making, the financial management of the school's annual budget, and provides the overall direction of the school.

Comprised of Christian men and women, active leaders in their own professions, businesses, churches, and communities, each exemplifies the Biblical model of leader/servant by giving many hours each month to serve as a board member of JICS.  Each takes seriously the role of Godly parenting and nurturing their children in the admonition of the Lord, and each is committed to excellence in Christian education.

The School Board hires and supervises the Head of School.  The Head of School supervises and hires the faculty and staff and runs the daily operation of the school with the board's full support.

There is a box in the front office for suggestions for improvement, and the school board will discuss each suggestion at one of the monthly board meetings. For communication with the school board, please follow the Communication policy outlined in the JICS Family/Student Handbook.

JICS Board of Directors

        Mr. Brian Dausman

"I am married to Dawn, my wife of almost 16 years, and we have three children – Amelia, Tallulah, and Jesse. All three will be attending JICS after a short homeschool stint with our two oldest. I have served on the Board for the last three years (two as Treasurer), even while we were homeschooling, because of the strong sense of partnership I have always felt with the school and its ministry. We love JICS and appreciate how truly special it is in partnering with parents from all walks of life to provide a strong academic environment where Christ and the gospel are front and center. As far as work, I am a Human Resources Executive at Sonepar US."

Mr. Jason Batliner

"My wife Jenny and I moved from Kansas City to Summerville in 2006 in search of a life by the sea.  Our son, Charlie, was born in 2009, eventually prompting us to move to West Ashley in part to be closer to James Island Christian School.  We chose JICS because we want Charlie to not only be allowed to discuss Christ in school, but we want Him to be the focal point of Charlie's education.   We have been members of James Island Christian Church for about 4 years, and Charlie is currently part of Team 2 while Jenny teaches Spanish and works in the front office at JICS.  I joined the school board at the start of the 2017-18 school year and am a program manager at SRC.  In my spare time I enjoy fishing and camping."

  Mr. Joe Raya

"My wife, MariElena and I have lived in the Charleston area since 2005 as a relatively newly married couple. We stumbled into JICC and quickly decided to make it our church home. Since then we have had three children, our son Hudson who is our oldest followed by our daughter June and our daughter Mitzi. After careful deliberation we decided to send our children to JICS because we desired to have Christ as the center of our children’s education and we grew to trust and rely on JICS to provide a safe and Christ centered environment. My wife and I have been in the restaurant industry for our whole professional career and now own and operate a beverage manufacturing company. In my spare time I enjoy home improvement projects."

"I joined the school board in 2015.  I have 2 children, Gracie and Graham, who are in the 6th and 4th grade.  They each have attended the school since they were in K4.  We live on James Island and attend the Johns Island Campus of Seacoast Church.  For employment I work as a Prosthetist/Orthotist at Floyd Brace Company."

     Mrs. Yvonne Miller
                                     Board Member

"My name is Yvonne Suzanne Miller. I am a new School Board Member effective August 2017. I am honored that I was asked to be on the Board. I take this position very seriously and I believe in Christian Schools as we (my husband, daughter and son in law) founded and built a private Christian School in Arvada, Colorado. We worked nonstop 24/7 for 32 years. We moved as a family here to South Carolina a little over 3 years ago from Colorado where we lived for 43 years. My husband was the initiator of us moving where it was warmer. He was able to enjoy the warmth for five months and then the Lord suddenly took him home to live with Him. We live on Wadmalaw Island and have a ministry called SonShine Oaks Retreat and Guest home for the Faith-based community, Pastors, Missionaries and anyone who needs a place to rest their weary soul."
