Our Admissions Process

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Testing Required?
Yes, we do require entrance testing for K5-11th grade students. We use MAP testing for our entrance test.
What grades do you offer?
JICS is a Christ centered college preparatory school that offers PK3-12th grades.
Is there a church membership requirement?
All families are encouraged to be active members of a local church.
How long does the admissions process take?
The admissions process is parent-driven and typically takes anywhere from a few days to a few weeks. Once JICS has received all required admissions documents, students in K5-12th will be scheduled for entrance testing. All families will be scheduled to interview with one of our school leaders. The student’s file is then reviewed by the Admissions Review Committee, and the family will receive an admissions decision via email.
What age does my child need to be to start preschool and kindergarten?
Students may enroll in JICS’s PK3 program if they turn 3 by September 1 of the enrollment year, in the PK4 program if they turn 4 by September 1, and in the K5 program if they turn 5 by September 1. These age requirements follow South Carolina state guidelines.
What academic and behavioral standards must students meet in order to be considered for admission?
New students should demonstrate the academic readiness needed to succeed at their grade level and be prepared to meet the behavioral expectations outlined in the JICS Student Handbook.
